Over the next few weeks, there are a number of events and changes to the normal schedule worth noting.
New Year's Day Service On the 1st of January, 2020, we'll hold a thanks-giving service at noon, to begin the year looking to God and giving thanks for his blessings to us as a people and congregation. Prayer Meetings For the next 3 weeks, owing to holidays and many folk being away with family, our Wednesday prayer meeting will be cancelled until the New Year. We look forward to meeting again on the 8th of January. Pulpit Schedule We look forward to having Mr Donald Robertson with us this Sunday, 22nd December. Mr Robertson has kindly agreed to take the service to allow our Minister some family time, in lieu of a trip to India in January. More news will follow that trip. We will also be joined by the Rev Paul Crowe & Rev James Clark (Inverness) in January with our Minister away. ng Our monthly Bible-study meets again at 7:30pm this Friday (13th). On the day where we will go to the ballots as a country again, it will be good to meet to discuss our increasingly relevant subject of 'living proof.'
Tea/coffee and sweet pieces follow as ever and all are welcome & encouraged to come along to an informal opportunity to discuss God's Word. On Thursday night (12th) at 6pm, a meeting will be held at Grace Reformed Church regarding the possibility of starting a Christian School in Aberdeen.
The meeting seeks to meet with those who are want to know more or be directly involved in the school. Whether you are able to make it or not, please keep the matter in prayer. The work, while undoubtedly a blessing to kids and parents alike, involves much hard work and sacrifice. For our Communion Season this year, we welcome the Rev Alasdair Macleod, who ministers on the Isle of Lewis, in the district of Point.
Rev Macleod visited Aberdeen as a student a number of years ago, so we look forward to welcoming him back. Our service timetable is as in previous years, beginning with our Bible study on Friday evening, 7:30pm @ the church. Other services as follows; Preparatory Service - Saturday 6:00pm @ the church Morning Service & Lord's Supper - 11:00am @ the church Evening Service - 6:00pm @ the church Thanksgiving Service - 7.30pm @ the church Following the morning service, we will have a fellowship lunch, where a chance for extended fellowship over lovely food is enjoyed. As ever, all are warmly invited and encouraged to join with us. This Friday we look forward to resuming our Bible study. We recently went through Isaiah, looking at various themes and aspects of the book. It is of course a book with 66 chapters, so we have much to cover yet!
The next study is called 'Living Proof,' looking at our witness to the world. In Scotland today, so many folk are unaware of what a true Christian is, so we hope this will benefit everyone and help as we communicate the Gospel to those in our various social circles. Please feel welcome to come! It is informal, with lots of time for questions. The pace is slow, so as to glean as much as possible from our subjects. Tea/coffee and sweet things will follow! |
