What we Believe...

Here you will find what we believe about the key tenets of the Christian faith.

God
...is eternal, without beginning or end, and the creator of our world and universe.  God exists in three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, better known as the Trinity. He is perfect in all His attributes.
Jesus Christ
...is God's Son, who became man, lived a sinless life, died in our place on the cross to pay the penalty for each of our sins, and was resurrected, conquering death. He is fully God as the second person of the Trinity.  Trusting and believing in Him by faith is the only way to receive pardon for our sins and inherit eternal life.
The Bible
...is our ultimate guide to knowing God, pointing us to Jesus Christ and the offer of salvation by grace alone.  Written by human authors under God's guidance, it directs us as to how we should live our lives and function as a church. It is trustworthy, without error and without contradiction.
Our Responsibility
...is to look to Jesus Christ by faith, as our God and Saviour, to provide forgiveness for our sins.  The Bible teaches that we have all fallen short of God's standard, meaning we need to confess our sins to Him, knowing that He is able and willing to forgive and demonstrate His love.
The church
...is where those who love and follow God meet to worship, and where all in the locality are invited to join and know more of God.  The church in a wider context also describes everyone who has ever believed in God and for whom Jesus Christ died.  The church is subject to the Bible's authority, with Jesus as the Head of the church, following the pattern of the New Testament church.
Our Statement of Faith

...is the Westminster Confession of Faith, completed in 1647, as a project between churches in Scotland, England and Ireland.  This is the guiding document for thousands of churches worldwide, and was even ratified by Acts of Parliament. The link here takes you to it, where you can read in fuller detail what we believe and adhere to.  It is important to remember that this Confession is guided in all cases by what the Bible reveals. This forms a large part of our identity as a 'Reformed' church.
