Thanksgiving Service

19/7/2017

Plans are in place to hold a thanksgiving service at the church on Saturday 2nd September.  We will start at 2 pm and hope to have the Rev. Maurice Roberts with us to lead our service.  Light refreshments will be served afterwards.

While work on the building is very much ongoing, this will give folk in the church a chance to see our building and join us in giving thanks for its provision.

You are warmly invited and we look forward to sharing our joy with friends across the church.

Prayer Meeting Notice

11/7/2017

Due to the minister being away and many folk being on holiday, our midweek prayer and Bible study will be cancelled for the next three weeks, returning again on the 1st August.

Please continue to remember the work of the congregation in prayer.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Fellowship Lunch

11/7/2017

We hope to have another fellowship lunch on Sunday 3rd September. Usual rules apply...bring enough food for yourself and a little extra!  This is a good time to meet, renew fellowship and enjoy some tasty puddings!

All are most welcome.

Our Sister Church

4/7/2017

As a church, our focus has never been just on our own country.  We currently support missions in Zambia and Sri Lanka, for example.  Recently however, we were made aware of a church with whom we shared something...our name!

Grace Reformed Church in the Gambia, West Africa, is a reformed congregation planted by Pastor Sylvester Konteh, originally from Sierra Leone. Pastor Konteh had for many years belonged to a charismatic church, until he encountered reformed teaching some three years ago. After some initial resistance, reformed theology began to make an impression upon him as he began to understand the authority of Scripture, the sovereignty of God and the doctrines of grace. Eventually, he enthusiastically embraced the reformed faith and left his charismatic church to plant a reformed, Psalm singing congregation in Brikama.

Muslims constitute around 95% of the population in Gambia, with Christians accounting for less than 5% of the population. However, those who would associate themselves with the Christian faith would include Roman Catholics and Seventh Day Adventists amongst others. Many of the churches within the umbrella of that 5% are charismatic and reformed believers are few and far between in Gambia.

The congregation is a small gathering of around 30 people who have been slowly growing in number. The Pastor has seen people coming to visit the church from other congregations, who when hearing reformed expository preaching for the first time, have been very much affected and have commented that they have never heard such teaching.

There are difficulties, which hinder the growth of the congregation, such as the place of worship. Initially, they met in an old run down building or under a tree in the compound of a family belonging to the congregation. They have recently relocated to a more central location where the accommodation is more suitable. However, the agreement for the use of the premises is only a short-term solution. Despite the difficulties, there are encouragements for which they are thankful for, as they are receiving more visitors who are hearing the Gospel and faithful teaching for the first time. Please remember Grace reformed church in your prayers so that many would come to know Christ savingly, in the Gambia.

GRC Aberdeen wish to encourage you to pray for our sister congregation and the wider work of the Gambia Partnership, as they seek to take the good news of Jesus Christ to the people of Gambia. Fundraising DVD's are available at our church to support the work.
