We look forward this weekend to having the Rev Kenneth Macdonald with us for our Communion Weekend. Rev Macdonald was recently the minister of the Scalpay Congregation, in the Outer Hebrides, and is now retired and living on the Isle of Lewis, acting as the Interim Moderator for the Stornoway Congregation. The weekend will begin with our Bible Study, held in the church, and conclude on the Monday evening with a thanksgiving service. All services and info as below and all at the church; Friday Bible Study - from 7.30pm Saturday Preparatory Service - 6.00pm Sunday Morning Service and Lord's Table - 11.00am Sunday Evening Service - 6.00pm Monday Thanksgiving Service - 7.30pm The Session will be open and will be happy to meet with any who would seek to profess their faith in Christ publicly. We pray all who attend will know God's blessing as we meet to "...do this, in remembrance of me." (Luke 22:19). Over the weekend (11th-13th November) we will have our winter Communion Season, where we will welcome the Rev. Greg Macdonald, from Ness on the Isle of Lewis. Rev. Macdonald was with us a number of years ago and we look forward to having him again this weekend. Rev. Macdonald is also currently the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Free Church (Continuing). The meeting(s) schedule is as below; Friday, 7:30pm - informal Bible study, looking at Isaiah 11-12 Saturday 6:00pm - Preparatory Worship Service (Rev. Macdonald) Sunday 11:00am - Morning Worship followed by the Lord's Supper (Rev. Macdonald) Sunday 6:00pm - Evening Worship (Rev. All services/meetings will be at the church on Long Walk Road. Note - there will be Sunday School this weekend In recent years we've seen an expansion of our denomination in Europe, namely in Pau (France), Bilbao and Barcelona (Spain) and now, in Braga, Portugal. Next week, our Minister will be travelling to Braga, in the North of Portugal, to conduct some teaching and preaching over a long weekend there.
Igreja Presbiteriana de Braga (Braga Presbyterian Church) was formed in 2017, and the people there have embraced Reformed Theology and have formally joined the FCC. They were welcomed into the Presbytery of Navarra and Aragon in January this year. As a congregationm, we are only too glad to 'lend' our Minister for a time to assist there and encourage them in their work. Please pray for the work there and for Mr McGlynn, for safe travels and for liberty in his lectures. The pulpit schedule for the rest of October is as follows; 16th October - Rev T McGlynn (AM & PM) 23rd October - Mr Paul Crowe (AM & PM) 30th October - Mr Paul Crowe (AM & PM) Note also, the Sunday school will be off for a short break during the school October Holiday, on the weekends of the 23rd and 30th October. This week (22nd August), we are delighted to have the Home Missions Worker, DJ Morrison, with us in Aberdeen.
Mr Morrison will be seeking to drop Invitation leaflefts to the various houses in our community to inform them firstly of a warm welcome to our church but also, of service times and what goes on at the church. He will also be speaking to those he meets along the way and speaking to them of our need for God, for His mercy and for the comfort He offers (Matt 11:28). Please pray for this work, as we seek to make known to our community the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. On Sunday 26th June, the Sunday School finished up for the summer. Six of our young ones of various ages were presented with new books and certificates of achievement.
Our thanks goes to Agnes McGlynn, who has dutifully prepared and taught the children over the last year. |
