We've been grateful to God over the last few weeks for the help of two of our brethren for pulpit supply while our own minister was presiding over communions in Edinburgh and Arran. Mr Glen Fraser from the Inverness congregation helped out as well as Rev Craig Dennison, who has recently taken up a new role with the TBS (Trinitarian Bible Society). Mr Dennison shared a little of the main thrust of the work of the TBS and some of the future ventures they'll undertake after the service in the evening. Their primary work of translation is well worth remembering.
In between that, we welcomed the Rev Harry Woods for our communion weekend. Mr Woods' message on Sunday included a helpful survey of some of the key events at the cross and our need to focus not on the physical, but the spiritual aspect of Christ's sufferings for us. We were appreciative of Mr Woods' comments about the warmth of the congregation and he encouraged us to maintain it.
We welcome back our own Minister this weekend.
Below is the pulpit schedule for the next three weeks. On either side of the Communions, our Minister will be in Northern Ireland at Communions (Ballyclare & Doagh) and in Arran at Communions too.
Sunday 21st April - Services by Rev Glenn Fraser (Elder, Inverness)
Sunday 28th April - Communion Season with Rev Harry Woods (Beauly)
Sunday 5th May - Rev Craig Dennison
Sunday 12th May - Minister
The Annual General Meeting of the congregation will be this Wednesday, 17th April, at 6.30 pm.
The meeting will give the congregation an opportunity to get a brief review of the major events of the year gone by and some of the things we'll be aiming to achieve in the year to come.
We'll also review the congregational accounts, which make for encouraging reading. God has truly blessed us. Our thanks go to our busy and efficient Treasurer Agnes, for her work in this.
Friday 26th April, Bible Study @ the church, 7.30 pm

The Bible study on Friday is an informal meeting where we'll gather to discuss a passage in God's Word and have a time of fellowship afterwards, with some tea/coffee and snacks.
Please feel free to come along, whether you have been previously or not. If you are visiting from another church, make yourself known to one of our Elders or Minister, and we would be glad to have your fellowship.
GRC rejoiced this week (07/04/19) as we met to Ordain Duncan Macdonald to the office of Elder within the church. Duncan has been part of the congregation for many years and previously served as a Deacon. This now means the congregation has its own 'Kirk Session,' which is a real milestone for the congregation.
On the day, we were joined by Glenn Fraser, our 'Assessor' Elder, who for years has faithfully 'sat-in' on the congregation's meetings to help us constitute a formal session for events such as Ordinations and Communions. Our sincere thanks go to Glenn, who frequently travelled from Inverness to be with us. Mr McGlynn preached on the day from Titus 1, looking at the Elder's love and the Elder's life.
Please remember Duncan, his family, and the congregation in your prayers, that the work of God in Aberdeen might flourish.
