This Friday we look forward to resuming our Bible study. We recently went through Isaiah, looking at various themes and aspects of the book. It is of course a book with 66 chapters, so we have much to cover yet!
The next study is called 'Living Proof,' looking at our witness to the world. In Scotland today, so many folk are unaware of what a true Christian is, so we hope this will benefit everyone and help as we communicate the Gospel to those in our various social circles. Please feel welcome to come! It is informal, with lots of time for questions. The pace is slow, so as to glean as much as possible from our subjects. Tea/coffee and sweet things will follow! We look forward to having some visiting preachers in our pulpit this month, as our Minister in in Snizort (Isle of Skye) for communions there, as well as taking some well-earned family holidays.
Yesterday, we were thankful to have Mr Paul Crowe with us. Mr Crowe has recently moved to Aberdeen in his role as Superintendent of the East Scottish District of the Faith Mission. Mr Crowe preached warmly and we enjoying meeting him. On the 20th October, we'll have Rev Thomas Buchanan with us. Rev Buchanan was recently licensed as a minisiter and it awaiting God's call to a congregation now. 13th October- Minister 20th October - Rev Thomas Buchanan 27th October - Minister From the 16th to the 23rd September, we look forward to having Donald John Morrison with us. Mr Morrison who is the 'Home Missions Worker' for our wider church.
Throughout the week, Mr Morrison will seek to inform those in the streets round about us that they are warmly invited to come to church and encourage them to do so. We desire our church to be known amongst the community as a friendly church that is devoted to the teaching of God's Word. It is hoped that in some time later in the year, a Christianity Explored class may be run. If you are interested, a link can be found here. Please remember this work urgently in prayer. As a congregation who have known the goodness of God and neighbour in securing our building funds, we've been keen to support other who are in the same situation.
Over the summer months, an encouraging collection was taken for the work of Grace Reformed Church Gambia, as well as for the work of our sister church in Sri Lanka. Last month, we raised a remarkable sum for the work of an orphanage in India. Our minister hopes to visit Andhra Pradesh in 2020 God-willing, to speak at a ministers conference there. Some of those attending are involved in the running of the orphanage these. Please remember this in your prayers. Our fellowship lunch on Sunday past carried a special significance as we celebrated the 80th Birthday of one of our longest serving members, Sandra. During the morning service, we had considered how God had not only cared for Ruth in his providence, but also for Naomi. A lovely afternoon was had by all with, as usual, a lovely spread of food!
